Leaves:
alternate, pinnately compound, 6"-18" long, with up to 19 leaflets, coarsely and irregularly toothed; leaflets near the leaf base having deep lobes; rich green
Flowers:
showy golden yellow, 1/2" across with 4 petals in a star shape, with cinnamon-colored blotch at the base, in 12"-18" loose panicle; June-July
Fruit:
pea-sized black seed inside showy 2" long, papery, 3-valved capsule resembling three-sided balloon
Fall Interest:
golden yellow to orange; deciduous

tolerant of urban conditions but can be invasive and not recommended
