deciduous, alternate, simple, 1.5"-3" long, more or less spoon-shaped, with rounded teeth; light green above, pale and slightly hairy beneath

small and dull white, borne on short spur branches, inconspicuous; March-May

orange-red berry-like fruit (called a drupe) persisting into winter; very showy; September-October
