opposite, simple, 5"-15" long and about as broad but 24"-28" on sucker growth, margins smooth or with 4-6 teeth, palmately veined; dark green and slightly hairy above and velvety beneath

Flowers:

large, showy, tubular, pale purple, the inner throat having purple spots and yellow stripes, fragrant, in large clusters

Fruit:

capsule releasing winged seeds in fall

sun; adaptable; fast growing and weak-wooded
